I have a vio laptop that I've owned for about a year. I'm now selling it so I went to clean/factory reset it. Well, it got unplugged somehow and I didn't realize it. So I gave it to the person buying it. That b b person contacted me and said it won't start up. Now it won't go past the start up screen. And a pop up appears that says "the pc restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows click OK to restart pc and then restart installation". But when I click on OK the screen goes black and starts the same things all over again. And it just stays on the same screen that says "preparing" and the pop up shows up again. But thats all it does.

Screen stays dimmed
Hi All,
I have SVS1311CGX that I love and worked perfectly fine until I dropped it and broke its screen.
Today I replaced the broken screen with a new one and the picture was fine except that the brightness was a bit dimmer than usual.
I edited the featuretestcontrol and since than the screen is staying dimmed. It looks as if a black screen saver is running,not as if it is completely off.
More notes:
- I can connect an external screen and use the laptop normally, but the laptop screen stays black (or asleep).
- When I change brighness the black color on the screen gets a lighter or darker shade of black.
- I reinstalled the graphic drivers. didn't help.
- Current value of featuretestcontrol: f920
- I run on windows 7.
Any ideas how to solve it?

Sony Vaio SVS1512S1ES win 10 problems
Hello everyone !
I have this laptop for about 5 years and it's amazing, it's been working almost flawlessly (well, hardware wise)
I upgrade it to Win 10 when it was available for free ( original OS was licensed Win8) and after that it worked fine for about 2 years.
But then it slowed and i decide to do complete recovery using recovery media.
Recovery media returned my pc to factory state , and that's Windows 8.
I upgrade it to win 8.1 , and that was ok.
My problems started after that !
I cannot upgrade to Win 10 again ! I tried Win10 Upgrade Tool from Sony esupport site and suceed , but after that
my laptop won't restart. I tried this again and it stuck for 20 hours or more.
(Just to add: Before upgrading to Win 10, i completed Windows update and Vaio update, through their respective menus )
Does anyone have a solution ? Thanks in advance !

Windows 7 Office suite recovery
I had recently replaced a faulty hard drive on my SVE15117FGW laptop computer. The technician installed window 7 again but it did not have the microsoft office suite installed. This suite was pre installed when purchased and I have a valid product key.
When trying to download these office programs , microsoft accepted the product key but then advises to contact the manufacturer,Sony, for recovery instructions as the original program was pre installed.
Can someone tell me the procedure to download the office suite again, from memory it was called Home office 7 professional and included word, excel and powerpoint ect. I will eccept any version that is free with my product key.

I have an SVT131290x ultrabook. I currently have 8 GB of ram (4GB inboard plus extra 4GB stick). Will this machine support 12GB of memory (if I were to upgrade the 4GB extra stick to 8GB)?
The sony specs say 8GB max, but the crucial site says 12GB supported.

i just update tap 11 keyboard receiver firmware from v1.86 to v1.89
the keyboard just stops response occasionally. it can recover only after it is tapped to the monitor.
i've tried to update the firmware back to v1.86. everything is ok.
so it's not the problem of keyboard battery or hardware.
please fix it.

Sony Vaio SVE1513 BiOS update bricks laptop - "No Operating System Found" message
Had updated the original Sony Vaio from Windows 9.1 to Windows 10 few weeks back.
Recently updated the HDD to an SSD and was advised to do a BIOS update.
Found BIOS from Sony support website - file name - EP0000325127.exe
Update worked fine till the BIOS update reacehd 99% - then Laptop suddenly powered off. Since then, turning on the Laptop shows error message right after the "VAIO" screen -
error message says
"No Operating System Found"
Seems BIOS update got screwed up.
Have tried "Assist" button, tried F2, F10 etc
all key press shows another line of "No Operating System Found"
Need help on how to flash BIOS without Exe file - maybe from a USB bootable drive?

SONY Vaio Desktop PCV-RX465DS Recovery Problems
Okay, title is a little misleading, so please bear with me as I explain better.
I have a SONY Vaio Desktop PCV-RX465DS. The HD failed, so I am trying to replace it.
When I put the new HD in it says that BOOTMGR is missing.
Tried putting in the Windows ME disc, but it does not seem to be reading it. Swapped out the CD drive, thinking the other had gone bad, but no luck with that one either. Both drives gave me green lights, so I know there is power to them and the CD drives are listed as 1st in the boot starup, so it should be reading the ME disc first.
I have an older HD, which I installed to try and get things going, but this one will only start in SAFEMODE, and still can get it to read the CD first.
I'm ready to throw it out the window, but because it is the computer system I use (need) to run an embroidery machine, I need to get it working again.
Any help ?

My laptop takes forever to start.. normal boot time is 10 min.. sometime it's 25-30 min.
Very frustrated with the slowness of my laptop.. I don't have ssd but still 10 min is too much. I have upgraded to windows 10.
